Honoring Rob Pursley
Rob Pursley grew up in Cincinnati as the youngest of three boys in a family built on love, encouragement, and faith. He graduated from Sycamore High School, where he lettered in basketball before continuing his education at Bellarmine College and the University of Cincinnati. Rob built a career as a financial advisor, helping clients plan for their futures with honesty and dedication.
Beyond his accomplishments, Rob was known for his passion, loyalty, and ability to connect with people from every walk of life. He was a true friend to many—joyful, charismatic, and the teammate who always put others first. His impact was evident in the hundreds of lives he touched during his 28 years.
Rob’s life was tragically cut short in 2006. Although his passing left a tremendous void, his legacy has continued to inspire strength, unity, and purpose within his family, friends, and community.
The Rob Pursley Scholarship Fund
To honor Rob’s memory and competitive spirit, an annual charitable basketball tournament was created in his name. The 2025 tournament was held December 6-7th at Sycamore High School's Gregory Center, with proceeds benefiting The Rob Pursley Foundation.
Scholarships are awarded to Sycamore High School graduates who share Rob’s passion for athletics—students who are not receiving athletic scholarships, but dream of walking on to their college teams. Recipients are chosen for their love of the game, dedication, and perseverance—qualities Rob lived out daily. The last scholarship were awarded January 16, 2026 during the varsity basketball game at Sycamore High School.
The tournament has already benefited 68 student-athletes by awarding over $70,000 so far, as well as supported organizations such as Parents of Murdered Children and Crime Stoppers.
